The Windup Girl

author: Paolo Bacigalupi
literary genre: science fiction, biopunk
how much I recommend this book: 10/10

23rd-century Thailand.
Global warming has raised the levels of world's oceans.
Biotechnology is dominant and megacorporations like AgriGen, PruCal and RedStar (called calorie companies) control food production through 'genhacked' seeds and use bioterrorism and private armies to create markets for their products.
Anderson Lake is a representative of AgriGen in Thailand.
Emiko is an illegal japanese 'windup' girl, a representative of 'new race of human'.
In this crazy world, where everyone think only how to survive or get big money. Sounds familiar? Don't worry, this book is really unexpected and exciting.
Hope you'll enjoy it!

see you in next post~!
