Polish Navy Part 1

Hi everybody !

Today me and my comrade Loken (Whole history , I'm just putting it into words) are going to talk about Polish Navy.

So we are going to start with "ORP Błyskawica" as the most famous Polish ship.Catch a photo :
 History of Polish navy:
"Błyskawica" is the one of 4 Polish pre-war destroyers. It was the strongest allied destroyer untill 1942. It was a part of "Pekin" plan. This plan was just to give 3 destroyers for Great Britain. This operation was a succes. Immediatly after arrival they were given orders to patrol Ocean between Norway and GB. During following orders it almost sunk , because U-boat shot a torpedo and he missed , but it was close call. After that , Polish destroyers sunk the second U-boat in WWII. Whole 3 ships joined the first destroyers fleet. They were given orders to escort a convoy to Norway. During the operation "Burza" had some problems with engine. The first fleet had to patrol the waters between Narvik and Trondheim.During it's missions they were fireing to Nazi supply lines. Germans thought that they were light cruisers not destroyers. And because of that , every single plane in Norway wanted to sink it. Week before British forces were suppose to leave Norway , "Grom" was hit by 1000kg bomb straight into the engine room and it sunk.The sailors From "Błyskawica" were so upset that they were attacking Nazi supply lines with 3 times bigger effectivnes. During that , they destroyed The best Nazi Anti-tank unit. Nazis were more afraid of destroyer that was "Błyskawica" than British battleships, HMS Warspade for example.After week "Błyskawica" was assigned to escort ship with wounded British soldiers back to Britain. They arrived to Britain on 12.5.1940. On 23.5.1940 they left port in Harwich , and went to Dunkirk. Meanwhile both ships destroyed 3 squadrons of Ju87 that counted 9 planes."Burza" was hit by a bomb that went through the ship and exploded in the  water. It went back to Britain. "Błyskawica" arrived in Dunkirk and it took part in evacuation of allied forces from France. During that it towed british destroyer "Greyhound" , saved the crew of sunken french destroyer "L'adriot" , helped "Cyclon after it was hit by the torpedo and saved two companies of british soldiers from the beach. Meanwhile it shot down two DO217 (Lokens great grandfather shot them down) , Ju87 and BF109. After the battle ammo for "Błyskawica" went out , ship needed to be repainted , repaired and British army needed to change canons. Meanwhile the worst Polish submarine "ORP Wilk"(By the way , it's the oldest Polish submarine) went on its 6th patrol. Short after midnight on 20-21.6.1941 "Wilk's" crew saw U-boat , and they were too close to use the torpedoes and the canon was unable to fire , so capitan decided to ram him. U-boat sunk and "Wilk" was critically damaged.It came back to port and it was fixed.

"Wilk":

And that's all for today , this post is much different than the other ones , but from time to time I'm going to give you that kind of entertainment(?).

See ya!
