This scenario was based on a book in the same name write by David Nichollas.
Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess) met each other 15th of July in 1988. She is abitious dreamer comes from a poor home and he is selfish king of life cpmes from a rich home. It was certificate day and they spend all night together. The promised each other that they will meet every year at the same day- 15th of July.
