Christmas in Germany

Christmas Day is a very important day in the year.
Christmas markets have already started on the first of December. They are characteristic for Germany culture. There, you can buy Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, toys, sweets and different Christmas things.

Children have the possibility of meeting and talking to Santa Claus, they can take photos with him and they're given Advent calendar. There are a lot of attractions, also for adults, for example: ice rink, ice playground, hot chocolate.
In every traditional home there is an Advent crown with four candles and violet ribbon. Every Sunday people light up one candle for four weeks.
Christmas last three days. On the table there are: potatoes salad, roasted sausages, dishes for sauerkraut, roasted goose…The famous cake is christmas bun with some raisins, dried fruit and nuts and the popular ginger bread.

After eating, it's time for presents, which aren’t under Christmas trees, but on the table or by shoes. Everybody  believes that presents are from Santa Claus or Christ child.
