Money Heist (s01) - review

Hi! In this post I want to present to you Money Heist. It's a Spanish Netflix Originals series about extraordinarily scheduled 'robbery' on a state mint. I used speech marks, because the robbers get in the mint and made money themselves, they didn't really stole them. This series has one season for now.

Every single character in this story is relevant and producers showed us their past. My favourite character is Profesor (Alvaro Morte), I think he's the most interesting person there.

Whole series is really worth watching If you like dynamic action and ths type of vibes. Bye for now!

'For the fairest'

In this post, I tell you a story about a Gold Apple that is known in Greek Mythology to give immortality to anyone who eats them. In this story, it's going to have a little bit different meaning. See yourself!

Eris was not invited to a wedding between Thetis and Peleus. Infuriated by this, she tossed a solid gold apple into the wedding. It had inscribed on it "TO THE FAIREST". All of the gods recoiled and most goddesses, but Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera fought over the title. They asked Zeus who it belonged to, and he responded to ask Paris, a mortal prince. They showed him the Apple, and asked the question, bribing him with gifts. He chose Aphrodite, and would cause war between the gods and mortals.

That's whay the "apple of discord" means the cause of the conflict, the reason for the quarrel.

Bye now!

Dark (s01) - review

Hello! In this post I'm going to tell you something about a German Netflix Originals series - Dark. It's not a crime, but it has a gripping, interesting mystery and I think it's worth watching. This science-fiction story is about time travelling. It has one season, but viewers are waiting for the second.

Children start to disappear in a small town in Germany and one of the characters is going to solve this strange mystery. He discovers many unusual things in the woods near the town and decides to check it out.

Jonas Kahnwald (Louis Hofmann) is the main character in this story. He discovers clues relevant to the disappearing children case. He enters in the mysterious cave consciously and he finds things, which blow his mind, reasons why his father commited a suicide, for instance.

If you like science-fiction vibes, you'll love this series! Personally, I couldn't get over Dark for weeks. The soundtrack and beautiful shots gives this production unusual character.

I hope you liked this post, bye!

Half human

In this post, I show you a few of weird creatures which are a mix of human and animals.

The first one is the Satyr. A half human with goat's legs, hoofs and corners. They like to play on flute, dancing and they have god connection with nature and closely associated with Dionysus.

Next one is Echidna. Half woman-half serpent. She is very popular monster in mythology because most of them are her offspring.

The Centaurus is a horse with a man torse. The most civilized one is Chiron. He is really intelligent and he has medical talent.

Minotaur- human with bull's head and strength. He's prisoned in the maze on Crete created by Daedalus in order by King Minos.

And the ones that all of you now for sure- Sirens. Danger and gorgeous creatures. They attracted sailors with their wonderful voices for extermination, then they were eating them. Presented like a woman with a fishtail, but also like a woman with eagle wings.

Peafowl

Peafowl is a common name for three species of birds in the genera Pavo and Afropavo of the Phasianidae family, the pheasants and their allies. Male peafowl are referred to as peacocks, and female peafowl as peahens. The two Asiatic species are the blue or Indian peafowl originally of the Indian subcontinent, and the green peafowl of Southeast Asia; the one African species is the Congo peafowl, native only to the Congo Basin. Male peafowl are known for their piercing calls and their extravagant plumage. The latter is especially prominent in the Asiatic species, which have an eye-spotted "tail" or "train" of covert feathers, which they display as part of a courtship ritual. The Indian peacock has iridescent blue and green plumage, mostly metallic blue and green, but the green peacock has green and bronze body feathers. In both species, females are as big as males, but lack the train and the head ornament. The peacock "tail", known as a "train", consists not of tail quill feathers, but highly elongated upper tail coverts. These feathers are marked with eyespots, best seen when a peacock fans his tail. Both sexes of all species have a crest atop the head. The Indian peahen has a mixture of dull grey, brown, and green in her plumage. The female also displays her plumage to ward off female competition or signal danger to her young. Green peafowl differ from Indian peafowl in that the male has green and gold plumage and black wings with a sheen of blue. Unlike Indian peafowl, the green peahen is similar to the male, only having shorter upper tail coverts, a more coppery neck, and overall less iridescence. The Congo peacock male does not display his covert feathers, but uses his actual tail feathers during courtship displays. These feathers are much shorter than those of the Indian and green species, and the ocelli are much less pronounced. Females of the Indian and African species are dull grey and/or brown. Chicks of both sexes in all the species are cryptically coloured. They vary between yellow and tawny, usually with patches of darker brown or light tan and "dirty white" ivory.

'The Babadook'

Hi readers!

Today I'll tell you about the movie which might help you step back yours memories to the past, to that time when you were a child and was really scared of monsters under your bed. The title of this interesting horror is 'The Babadook' and the director is Jennifer Kent.

The plot tells us about single mother Amelia (Essie Davis), that try to deal with her husband's death. Her son, Samuel (Noah Wiseman) is terrified of creatures which the boy imagines to himself. Amelia found the book in Samuel's room and everything would be fine if the book's plot wasn't about Babadook - the bad ghost which purpose is take controle of the reader's mind. Bad things started to happen.

This movie's plot was really original to me when I watched it first time. The climate was amazing, some scary scenes were good too. The best thing for me was design of the mysterious book which were found at Samule's place. I recommend this for adults but also younger people. Try to remind yourself how was it when you were scared of darkness in your room.

Blobfish

It inhabits the deep waters off the coasts of mainland Australia and Tasmania, as well as the waters of New Zealand. Blobfish are typically shorter than 30 cm ((12 in)). They live at depths between 600 and 1,200 m ((2,000 and 3,900 ft)) where the pressure is 60 to 120 times as great as at sea level, which would likely make gas bladders inefficient for maintaining buoyancy. Instead, the flesh of the blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. Its relative lack of muscle is not a disadvantage as it primarily swallows edible matter that floats in front of it such as deep-ocean crustaceans. Blobfish are often caught as bycatch in bottom trawling nets. The popular impression of the blobfish as bulbous and gelatinous is partially an artifact of the decompression damage done to specimens when they are brought to the surface from the extreme depths in which they live. Their diet consists of small crustaceans like crabs, sea urchins, and shellfish. These goodies are sucked into the blobfish’s mouth as it floats along. Lacking both bones and teeth, they do not actively hunt. In fact, their extremely low muscle mass doesn’t allow for much movement at all. Besides eating, conserving energy is the blobfish’s main job. The female lays thousands of small pink eggs on the seafloor. Either the female or male blobfish will sit on the eggs to protect them from predators.

Vulture

Vultures in south Asia, mainly in India and Nepal, have declined dramatically since the early 1990s. It has been found that this decline was caused by residues of the veterinary drug Diclofenac in animal carcasses. The government of India has taken very late cognizance of this fact and has banned the drug for animals. However, it may take decades for vultures to come back to their earlier population level, if they ever do: without vultures to pick corpses clean, rabies-carrying dogs have multiplied, feeding on the carrion, and age-old practices like the sky burials of the Parsees are coming to an end, permanently reducing the supply of corpses. The same problem is also seen in Nepal where government has taken some late steps to conserve remaining vultures. Similarly, in Central Africa there has also been efforts to conserve the remaining vultures and bring their population numbers back up. This is largely due to the bushmeat trade, "it is estimated > 1 billion kg of wild animal meat is traded" and vultures take up a large percentage of this bushmeat due to their demand in the fetish market. The substantial drop in vulture populations in the continent of Africa is also said to be the result of both intentional and unintentional poisoning, with one study finding it to be the cause of 61% of the vulture deaths recorded.

Elephant shrew

Elephant shrews mainly eat insectsspiderscentipedesmillipedes, and earthworms. An elephant shrew uses its nose to find prey and uses its tongue to flick small food into its mouth, much like an anteater. Eating large prey can pose a challenge; an elephant shrew struggling with an earthworm must first pin its prey to the ground with a forefoot. Then, turning its head to one side, it chews pieces off with its cheek teeth, much like a dog chewing a bone. This is a sloppy process, and many small pieces of worm drop to the ground; these are simply flicked up with the tongue. Some elephant shrews also feed on small amounts of plant matter, especially new leaves, seeds, and small fruits. The species as a whole is widely distributed throughout Africa, excluding western Africa and the Sahara region, but despite their wide distribution range, sightings are still rare. The four-toed elephant shrew is one of the most widespread of the species, occurring from Central and Eastern Africa to the Northeastern corner of South Africa. The four species of giant elephant shrew prefer to live in forests, closed-canopy woodlands, and thickets, usually with a floor densely covered by leaf litter. The checkered elephant shrew is found in Central Africa; the golden-rumped elephant shrew is endemic to Kenya; the grey-faced shrew is confined to two forests in Tanzania, and the black and rufous elephant shrew is found in East Africa. Smaller elephant shrew species can be found in the uplands of southern, eastern, and northwestern Africa, in dry forests, scrub, savannas, and open country covered by sparse shrubs of grass.

'The Boy'

Hello guys!

In today's post I want to show you a really good, mysterious horror which is 'The Boy' directed by William Brent Bell in 2016. When I watched it first time in the middle of the night I really couldn't sleep, because of great plot. I love when movies have a lot of secrets! Enjoy!

The plot shows us Greta (Lauren Cohan), young woman who arrived from Montana to England because of her job offer. She also has another, darker reason. Old, quirky marriage give her a chance to looks after their son - Brahms. She didn't know that her protege is… a porcelain doll which soon she'll be trat like her ow son. This weird, old household hide more mysteries.

In my opinion that horror stands out because of climate. I really love that weird relations between babysitter and doll. Jumpscares aren't the best but I still think this is one of  the best movies I've seen. But too short!

Breaking Bad - review

Hi! Today I'm going to present to you one of the most recognisable TV show, which is Breaking Bad. It's a beautiful story about love, family and frienship commitment, but also about drugs and feloniousness. It has five seasons and it''s completed. This series has many fans all over the world and I'm one of them!

The main character is Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and he's a chemist teacher, but one day he dicsovers that he has a cancer and the treatment costs tons of money. So he decided to earn this money in a very unconventional way. This character is an example of a faithful person to his family and despite of the fact that he produces drugs, he tries to protect them all the time. At first he's just a simple man from the suburbs, but by the time he becomes more and more tough and ruthless.

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) is my favourite character in this story. At the beginning his role isn't really interesting, but later viewers discover his sensitive, helpful and loyal nature. He always says what he thinks, regardless of the consequences.  Aaron's acting makes people attached to this character.

The whole series is a masterpiece to me, it's gripping and many scenes are very unpredictable. If you are a fan of criminal stories and if you like drug cartel-Mexican vibes, you definetely should watch it!

'Don't Breathe'

Hi guys!

'Don't Breathe' is our main subject in today's post. I watched that film something like two or more years ago, but it stands out in my mind because of good and interesting plot. The movie was created by Fede Alvarez. Enjoy!

In movie we meet three teenagers who want to get richer and they decide to break into house of old man who was war veteran in younger ages. Rocky (Jane Levy) that has a hard story and want to live by other, new life and her partners - Aex (Dylan Minette) and Money (Daniel Zovatto) thought this will be easy because their victim is blind. Some of them overpay a life for this mistake.

First of all, that old man from this film was literally scary. I was really uncomfortable whe I looked into his face. The plot is really good for me, I wasn't bored. Unfortunately, the ending dissapointed me, bu maybe for you that way of end something will be good. I recommend this horror when you are bored and want to watch something not too hard but also not too easy.

Between Scylla and Charybdis

Scylla and Charybdis were monsters thought to inhabit the Straits of Messina, the narrow sea between Sicily and the Italian mainland, a place called in mythology - The Bermuda Triangle.

Preying on passing mariners, Scylla was a terrible creature with six heads and twelve feet, while Charybdis, living on the opposite side of the straits, was another monster who, over time, was transformed in the imagination of the ancients into a more rational, but no less lethal, whirlpool. She drank down and belched forth the waters thrice a day and was fatal to shipping.
Odysseus famously had to negotiate a passage through their deadly clutches in Homer's Odyssey.

Both gave poetic expression to the dangers confronting Greek mariners when they first ventured into the uncharted waters of the western Mediterranean. To be “between Scylla and Charybdis” means to be caught between two equally unpleasant alternatives.

'IT'

Hello everybody!

Today I'm going to tell you about horror which was created on the basis Stephen King's novel 'IT' by Andy Muschietti (the director) and the title of the movie is the same. I want to mention that is one of my favourite movies and I recommend it, but also a book. Enjoy guys!

The main character is Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher). He had a younger brother - George - and has a interesting conditio. Billy stutters all the time and that's the reason why other kids call  him 'Stuttering Bill'. We also meet Bill's friends - Edward 'Eddie' Kaspbrak (Jack Dylan Grazer), Richie Tozier (Finn Wolfhard), Ben Hanscom (Jeremy Rey Taylor), Mike Hanlon (Chosen Jacobs), Stanley Uris (Wyatt Oleff) and the pretty, brave lady - Beverly Marsch (Sophia Lillis). They are making 'The Losers' Club' and all of tchem have something to face up to. But when these kids discovered a thing that killing people in Derry Maine they must find courage in themselves, defeat own fears and... IT.

When I watched that film first time I was enchanted. It was so emotional and I even cried! I really can say I love it so much. The plot, characters or actors were amazing, I was sad when I had to go out from  the cinema. It's really good horror, especially if you are scared of clowns.

Three sisters

In today's post, we talk about two bests trios. They are Graeae or Moirai and Gorgons.

Graeae are daughters of primeval goddess Nyx, and sisters of Keres, Thanatos, and Nemesis. Good known as the Fates that were incarnations of destiny. They shared one eye and one tooth. They were born as old women and their names were Deino (dread), Enyo (horror) and Pemphredo (alarm). They were so powerful that no god had the right or the means to alter their decisions.

The Gorgons were three daughters of Echidna and Typhon, the mother and father of all monsters respectively. Their names were Stheno, Euryale, and the most famous of them, Medusa. Although the first two were immortal,Medusa was not. Weirdly, Medusa was also not considered the child of Echidna and Typhon, but of Phorkys and Keto. Their faces were ugly and their hair was replaced by snakes; anyone who would gaze into their eyes would be turned to stone instantly.

'The Green Mile'

'The Green Mile' a moving story about prisoners and guards on a death block.  It talks about the events taking place in the year 1932, in Block E of the Cold Mountain prison. An extraordinary prisoner, John Coffey, makes his way to the block and he has the gift of performing miracles of healing. He was wrongly convicted, but the sentence must be enforced.
The events are reported by Paul Edgecomb writing down his memories in a retirement home in the year 1996.  Edgecomb has worked on Block E as a guard. The guards called the block the Green Mile - same as the green linoleum with which the floor is lined.  The novel describes not only the events on the prison block, but also the fates of the guards and of the other heroes of the novel.

Wanting to refer to an old custom, Stephen King published this book in parts every month. The book consisted of 6 parts: 'Two Dead Girls', 'The Mouse on the Mile', 'Coffey's Hands', 'The Bad Death of Eduard Delacroix', 'Night Journey', 'Coffey on the Mile'. It was issued as one entire volume in the year 1997.

'Under The Dome'

'Under The Dome'
The novel published in 2009 tells the story of an American town of Chester's Mill, which got cut off from the rest of the world on one clear autumn day. The town is surrounded by an invisible force field. The dome tightly covers the boundaries of the town, the space above and  beneath the city. Only small amounts of water and air pass through the dome. The city is quickly surrounded by the army, and the inhabitants locked in the dome are left on their own. Dale Barbra a war veteran is to become the link between the outside world and the inhabitants. The field is adversely affecting the environment and people are slowly panicking.

The plot of the book takes place in modern times. This is supported by the description of the president, who can be identified as Barack Obama. In the book, Jack Reacher, the hero of Lee Child's books, with whom King is friends with, is mentioned twice. One chapter of the novel is written from the perspective of a dog.
The book is a development of the ideas contained by King in an unfinished and unpublished book 'The Cannibals', on which the author has been working in the late '70s and early '80s. The novel was considered one of the best in 2009 according to New York Times.

'Bastion'

'Bastion' Stephen King's longest novel, one which is often rated by the fans as the best book in the entire literary output of the Master of Horror. King proves here that he not only writes great horrors, but also works well as a post-apocalyptic novelist. The earth is ravaged by a deadly virus that was accidentally released from a secret military unit.  The virus spreads at an at an incredible rate. It starts innocently, with a common cold. The ultramodern, merciless biological weapon, the flu known as Captain Trips, carries the annihilation of almost all of humanity. 99.4% of the population are killed. The survivors have prophetic dreams in which they see the announcement of the arrival of the Messengers of Good and Evil. Everyone has to choose which side to take. Divided humanity forms two camps and sets off to build or destroy a new reality.

The first version of the book was published in 1978. In 1990, King decided to publish the book in full version which gave over 400 additional pages. In the new version, King added a new beginning, ending, new characters and developed some threads in more detail.

'The Dark Tower'

King is not limited to one genre, an example is the 8-volume series of fantasy novels 'The Dark Tower'.
The Dark Tower series is by far the most popular work of the author, published in the years 1970-2012. He talks about Roland - the last member of the 'gunslingers' fraternity, whose life goal is to find the mythical Dark Tower, which is at the center of all worlds. In the 'Dark Tower' cycle, we can find many literary genres: elements of fantasy, horror, science fiction and western.

When creating The Dark Tower, Stephen King was inspired by the poems of Robert Browning 'Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came' and Stearns Eliot ' The Waste Land', as well as by J.R.R.Tolkien's trilogy   'The Lord of the Ring'. One of the inspirations for the creation of Roland's character was the character of the Man with No Name, played by Clint Eastwood in the film 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'.
The saga includes figures, worlds and references to other books by the author. One of the characters is Father Callahan, one of the heroes of 'Salem's Lot'.  Another is the Man in Black, a key figure in The Stand and also the main character of the 'Eyes of the Dragon' novel.  The Tower itself appears in books such as: 'Insomnia' , 'The Talisman' , 'Black House', 'Hearts in Atlantis'.
