It's soviet tank made in early 70's. Polish army received them in 1978. They were used in combat for the first time in Lebanon in 1982. There they were fighting american M60 Patton. The canon was so powerful that shell could tear M60's turret's apart. But M60's sheels could easily penetrate armor of T72.They were also used in 1991 in Persian Gulf , they were supporting Iraqi forces. T72 was much weaker than british Challenger I or M1 Abrams. They couldn't penetrate their armor in 1000m , when allied tanks could do it at 1500m.They are on use to this day , even in Polish army. Polish armored forces are usin T72M , T72M1 , T72M1D and PT91 (Deep modified by Poles T72).
