Shihwa is another band formed by SM Entertainment. This group was
created on 24 March 1998 and now it's managed by Shinhwa Company. The
group is the longest-running boysband in the history of k-pop and one of
the pioneers of the k-pop idol culture. We can say they are seniors of k-pop.
Shinhwa is a Korean word, which means myth or legend.
Shinhwa is also the first k-pop band, who leads a successful career after leaving its original agency. Ever since Shinhwa left SM Entertainment, the group had fought a long legal battle to win the trademark rights for the band name "Shinhwa".
Shinhwa consists six members:
- Eric (leader, main rapper)
- M (vocal, main dancer)
- Dongwan (vocal)
- Sonic (main vocal)
- Junjin (vocal, rapper, dancer)
- Andy (rapper, maknae)
