Ryszard Henryk Riedel was a polish singer, songwriter and the frontman of the group Dżem. He could play the mouth-organ. He was born on the 7th of September 1956 and he died on the 30th of July 1994. He had a wife named Małgorzata and a son, Sebastian. He never had singing lessons, he was an autodidact. He joined the group Dżem when he was 17 years old. At the beginning of his career the group Kombi offered the possibillity of joining their group to Riedel, but Ryszard refused. His songs' lyrics are about the nature of autobiography. He was taking drugs, mainly heroin. He had detoxification many times, but each time he returned to the drug use. After the last rehab the group decided to put Ryszard into the hospital in Wodzisław Śląski. In May 1994 he has been removed from the group. In July he died.
In 1994 TVP Łódź released a movie 'Sen o Viktorii' that was based on what Ryszard's family and friends told about him.
