After the Ottoman defeat at World War I, Istanbul and Anatolia were occupied by the Allies. They planned to share these territories Armenia, France, Greece, Italy and the United Kingdom. But the leader of the Turkish nationalist movement, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in 1920 made Ankara his new main office. On 13 October 1923 Ankara officially became the new Turkish capital city.On 29 October 1923, the Turkish nationalists replaced the Ottoman Empire with the Republic of Turkey and of course, Atatürk was the first president.

Father of Turkey

Hello !

Today I want to  write about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He's a hero and a reformer. After the Great War the Ottoman Empier's situation was rather awful. Mustafa Kemal objected to the Sultan and  in November 1920 he abolished Sultan Mehmed VI and he became the first president of the Republic of Turkey.

Atatürk implemented a lot of reforms for example :

- he moved the capital city to Ankara
- he introduced the Gregorian calender,  the Latin alphabet and he implemented surnames
- he introduced compulsory education for women
For himself Mustafa Kemal chosed a name "Atatürk" (father of Turks)  and no one is allowed to wear this surname.

The Turks really love him. In Turkey it is rude to say  something wrong about him. Children learn songs and poems about Atatürk in schools .

I hope you like my post :)

Country of four seas

Hello !
Turkey, officially The Republic of Turkey, is bordering  seven countries: Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Iraq and Syria. It is called "The country od four seas"  because Turkey extends over  to four seas : The Black Sea, The Sea of Marmora, The Aegean Sea and The Mediterranean Sea (but Turks call it The White Sea). The population of Turkey is about 80 millions people.

                                    The capital city is Ankara

The largest three cities are Istambul, Ankra and Izmir.

                                           Istambul

                                            Ankara

                                          Izmir

                    Flag of Turkey

The story said that after the battles of Kosovo Turkish soldiers were looking for their friends. They found them in a pool of blood. The moon and stars were brightly shining. So that's why the moon and the star are on the falg of Turkey.
