Culture, people

Hello!
This is my second post and I want to tell you something about the culture, the diversity of people food, religion and traditions.

People

28th of October 1886, Grover Cleveland unveiled to Statue of Liberty. It was a gift from French for American. This gesture symbolizes freedom people from another country.



America is very diversified country in all respects. There live people from all the world eg. China, Poland, Germany, Mexico and England. 
Each one of them has diffrent behaviour, fests and culture. Freedom and human rigts are treated really seriously. The government care about their populace. Sometimes come to judging things at court.
Mostly everybody feels good and easygoing. Americans are always or almost always smiling.
Culture 

American are very tolerant nation. You can wear it what do you want. Nobody laught at other people who have crazy clothes or funny hairstyle. Even when will you wear pajamas and will you go to the shop, anyone point you out.

In big cities townspeople don't look at traffic lights.They go along and don't care about that they can cause an accident.

There isn't jokeing about terroism, beacuse this is important thing for American.
You can't drink an alcohol in public places.
People don't ask about a payment.


Turkey Day, Halloween, Independence Day, Black Friday...


The most important fest in USA is Independence Day celebrate 4th of July. American count this date as the birth of the United States. In the country are oragnized parades, festivals, concerts and baseball matches. People spend time on a barbeque, with family or in the funfair.
President meets with veterans and their families. Politician speak patriotic speeches.


 


On Turkey Day American meet together for a formal dinner.They always eat traditional dishes eg. turkey with bread filling, cranberry sauce, pasta with cheese, green beans, Brussels sprouts and cakes.
Before the dinner people will say their appreciation for God.
They celbrate on the fourth Thursday of November.

Black Friday 
is really terrible day. Everywere are people and sometimes they're fighting. This is a shopping season before Christmas. Promotions come to - 70%
People are crazy.




Food


The most popular American food:


hot dog, hamburger, buffalo, buffalo wings, brownies, apple pie, chicken pot pie, banana bread, cornbread, cheeseburger, corn dog, fudge, goetta, grilled pizza, jambalaya, moon pie, twinkie, whoopie dog and sloppy joe.

Americans usually eat three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, supper.
 Traditional American breakfast can be" pancakes, bacon eggs, orange juice and coffee

Lunch is a meal were people eat sanwiches and fast food.
Dinner and Supper are meals which consist of a minimum three hot dishes.

But remember:  American food is quite caloric and unhealthy.

Last post

Hello !
Today I will show you some of my favourite places in Istambul.

Hagia Sofia building from 4 century, firstly  Christian patriarchal basilica then imperial mosque now it is the museum.



Sultan Ahmed Mosque popularly Blue Mosque, built on the order of Sultan Ahmed (1606-1616), classic pattern of Ottoman architecture.



The Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı)  for almost 400 years (1465–1856) one of the major residences of the Ottoman Sultans, in 1985  became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 



My last post :(   it was really fun to write the posts on this blog. I have not expected that someone will read this, thank you sooooo much.

Istambul

Hello !
At this month I will show you Istambul. I've never been here but I think it's the most beautiful city in the world

Istambul is the most populous city in Turkey, over 15 million people live here. It's the largest European city, located on two continents (Europa and Asia), between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea, historically known as Constantinople and Byzantium. Istambul was the capital city of Ottoman Empire around 470 years. The Golden Horn, in the Beyoğlu district, is the city's biggest attraction.

Ankara #4

Hello!

Today I will tell you about places which you have to see when you're in Ankara.


The Roman Baths of Ankara - it is ruined complex if of an ancient Roman bath,  carried excavations in 1937-1944 discovered them



Kocatepe Mosque - is the biggest mosque in Ankara it was constructed in classical Ottoman style with four minarets. In 1967 Hüsrev Tayla and M. Fatin Uluengin won the architectural competition so their project was chosen to be built. Construction end in 1987.






Statue of Atatürk - located at Zafer Square, statue depict Father of Turkey, made of the marble and bronze.

Ankara #3

Hello!


Today I will show you some museums in Akara.

Museum of Anatolian Civilizations
Museum was established in 1921 with Mubarek Galip Bey initiative. It's located in old bazaar from 15 century. The museum has got unique works of Paleolithic, Neolithic, Hatti, Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian and Roman.



Anıtkabir
It's the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk located on the hill which is the centre of Anıttepe district, Near museum houses a wax statue of Atatürk, his letters and personal things. Anıtkabir is open every day, but the adjacent museum is open every day apart from Mondays.




Cer Modern
It's modern-arts museum, opened on 1 April 2010. The museum incorporates the biggest exhibition hall in Turkey.

Ankara #2

Hello !


Today I will show you how Ankara become the capital of Turkey.

After the Ottoman defeat at World War I, Istanbul and Anatolia were occupied by the Allies. They planned to share these territories Armenia, France, Greece, Italy and the United Kingdom. But the leader of the Turkish nationalist movement, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in 1920 made Ankara his new main office. On 13 October 1923 Ankara officially became the new Turkish capital city.On 29 October 1923, the Turkish nationalists replaced the Ottoman Empire with the Republic of Turkey and of course, Atatürk was the first president.

Ankara

Hello !

At this month  I will tell you about the capital city of Turkey, Ankara.

Ankara is located in central Anatolia, over 5 million people live here. It's the third most populous city in Turkey, after Istambul. Ankara has been capital since 1923. In past also known as Ancyra and Angora. Ankara is a really old city which has got, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman archaeological sites. 


Since 1988 International Film Festival, has been organised in the city. In 2017 festival took place between 20-30 April, it was the 28th edition. Ankara International Film Festival included “national feature”, “world cinema”, “short” and “documentary” film.

Izmir #4

Hello !
Today I tell you about historical fire and some attractions in Izmir.

On 13 September 1922, a great fire broke out in the city, lasting until 17 September. Disaster completely destroyed Greek, French and Armenian district. From 10000 to 100000 people died.  This happening ended the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922).


In Izmir, it is really good to see Clock Tower. It's adorable marble tower in the  Konak district, 25 meters high. The tower was designed by French architect Raymond Charles Père in 1901. 


It's also good to look over Asansör, historical building. It was built in 1907, on top of Asansör is one of the most famous restaurants in Izmir.

Izmir #3

Hello !

Good to see you again. Today I tell you about Ottoman rule in Izmir.

In 1415 Mehmet I took Smyrna to Ottoman Empire. He changed the name to Izmir.  At the reign of Sultan Suleiman, Europeans get permission to free trade and settlement at the city. The first Ottoman governor of Izmir was the son of the Bulgarian Shishman dynasty. During the reign of Mehmed III in Izmir were built the Hisar Mosque. 


It has been constructed by Aydınoğlu Yakup Bey. After damage, the mosque was restored in 1813, 1881, 1927 and 1980.

Izmir #2

Hello !

Today I tell you about Roman rule in Izmir.

In 133 BC, the last king of the Attalid dynasty died without the heir. In his will, he bequeathed his kingdom to the Roman Republic, included Izmir. The city came under Roman rule and was glad a period of prosperity. The importance of Izmir resulted that the Roman emperors who came to Anatolia visited Smyrna too. In 178 AD the city was devastated by an earthquake. It was one of the greatest disasters in the city. The earthquake razed the town to the ground. Support of the Empire for rebuilding Izmir was necessary. Emperor Marcus Aurelius helped to rebuild Smyrna. During this reconstitution, the agora was restored. At this period many of works were built.

Izmir

Hello !
At this month I will tell you about one of the biggest Turkish cities - Izmir.


Izmir is the port city in western Anatolia. It's the third most populous city in Turkey, after Istambul and Ankara. In 2014  2,847,691 people have lived there. Really important commercial and industrial centre. The second commercial harbour in Turkey. Every year in Izmir are held Izmir International Fair. On this markets are presented: Organic Agriculture, Food Products, Boat, Yacht, Technology, Electric, Electronic, Computer, IT, Tourism, Publication and Books. Izmir is modern Turkish name, original this city was called Smyrna.

Turkish actors #4

Hello!
In this post, I tell you about Burak Özçivit.

Burak was born on 24 December 1984 in Istambul. In 2005 he won the title of 'Best model of Turkey'  finished second in the 'Best Model of the World' competition. Özçivit started his career in television series Eksi 18, he played police commissioner named Murat. He also acted in Zoraki Koca, İhanet and Baba Ocağ and appeared in the movie Musallat. Burak played the role of Çetin (Chuck Bass) in the series Küçük Sırlar, the Turkish analogue of Gossip Girl. Özçivit acted in The Magnificent Century as  Malkoçoğlu Balı Bey.

Turkish actors #2

Hello !
Today I tell you about Beren Saat.

Beren was born on 26 February 1984 in Ankara. During studies, she participated in the acting competition Türkiye'nin Yıldızları and was discovered by Turkish director Tomris Giritlioğlu. After that, she started a professional acting career. Beren made her debut in 2004 in television series Aşkımızda Ölüm Var. Saat came to international attention for her role as Bihter Yöreoğlu Ziyagil in series Aşk-ı Memnu. For this role, she won many awards, including two Golden Butterfly Awards.  In 2010 Beren played the main character in Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? In 2014 she gets married with Turkish singer Kenanem Doğulu. From 2015 to 2016 Beren acted the major role in television drama Magnificent Century: Kösem.

Turkish actors

Hello !


At this month I will show you, Turkish actor and actress.

In this post, I tell you about Meryem Uzerli.


Meryem was born on 12 August 1983 in Kassel, Germany. Her father is a Turk and mother is German. She is the best know from  Turkish drama The Magnificent Century where she played Hurrem Sultan. When Meryem came to Turkey in 2011 she didn't know Turkish, it was really hard to lear script. In 2013 Uzerli get depressed and came back to Germany. A year later she gave birth to a girl named Lara Jemine. Meryem resumes her career in 2016. She played the main character in TV series  Queen of the night and in movie Annemin Yarası.

Ottoman Empire #4

Hello !

Today I'll tell you about Hurrem Sultan, she started sultanate of women in Ottoman Empire.

Roxelana - Hurrem (1505 - 1558 )


Probably she came from Poland, in 1520 drifted to Sultan Suleiman's harem. Hurrm bore him five children - Mehmet, Mihrimah, Selim ( future Sultan ), Bayezid and Cihangir. In 1530 she became sultan's wife. Sultan was known for her charity work. As the first woman in Turkey built mosques. In a war of impacts at the royal court, she contributed to the death of Mustafa ( Sultan Suleiman's son ) and Grand Vizier Ibrahim. Hurrem never was Valide Sultan, she died on 15 April 1558.

Ottoman Empire #3

Hello !

Today I'll tell you about the best Sultan of Ottman Empire. During his government's, Empire turned the top of power.

Suleiman was born in 1494 as the son of Selim I and  Ayşe Hafsa. He was the tenth sultan of Ottoman Empire. He led a lot of wars. Conquered Rhodes, Buda ( today Budapest), Belgrade and Baghdad. Suleiman liked to wrote poems, in his works he signed Muhibbi. Sultan wrote the most poems to his wife Hurrem. 
This is one of them:
Throne of my lonely niche, my wealth, my love, my moonlight.
My most sincere friend, my confidant, my very existence, my Sultan, my one and only love.
The most beautiful among the beautiful ...
My springtime, my merry faced love, my daytime, my sweetheart, laughing leaf ...

My Istanbul, my Karaman, the earth of my Anatolia
My Badakhshan, my Baghdad and Khorasan
My woman of the beautiful hair, my love of the slanted brow, my love of eyes full of misery ...

Suleiman took care about culture. His main architect, Sinan built a lot of beautiful buildings, for example, Süleymaniye Mosque in Istambul. It is the second largest mosque in the city.

Ottoman Empire #2

Hello !

Today I'll tell you about the most powerful women in Ottoman Empire.

Kosem (1589-1651)

She lived in Ottoman Empire during the reign of six sultans, three times she was a regent as the mother of Murad IV and Ibrahim, and grandmother of Mehmed IV. Kosem came from Greece, she probably was the wife of Sultan Ahmed I. As the only received title of Valide-i Muazzama (magnificent mother). Kosem was murdered at the behest of  Turhan Hatice.


Turhan Hatice (1627-1683)

She was one of the eight Haseki Sultans of Ibrahim I, she wasn't his legal wife. In 1642 Turhan born, future sultan, Mehmed IV. When Ibrahim died in 1648, her son took authority so she should become the Valide Sultan. But Hatice was too young and Kosem got this emplacement. She was too ambitious to pass up this position, Turhan decided to kill Kosem.

Ottoman Empire

Hello !

At this month I'll tell you about Ottoman Empire.
In this post, I'll show you the first three Sultans of Ottoman Empire.

Osman I (1258-1324), was the first ruler. He is perceived as a founder of Ottoman dynasty who governed in the empire. 



Orhan (1281-1362), son of Osman I,  introduced a lot of military reforms and he established Bursa as the capital city.



Murad I (1326-1389) was the first who used the title of Sultan. He created Divan ( Sultan's council ) and a position of Grand Vizier. Murad conquered Adrianople ( today Edirne ) and made it the new capital. He died during the battle of Kosovo
