Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) is a talented young man. His passion is sailing. He's sharing his interest with his younger brother, Sam (Charlie Tahan). One night Charlie must look after his brother, but he decides to go to the party. When he comes out Sam catches him and tells Charlie to drive him to a friend. During the journey a drunk driver runs into his car. In an accident Sam's dying and Charlie is blaming himself. After this event the boy is dissociating from his mother, friends and he's starting to work on the graveyard.

The movie is showing how to deal with the loss of someone close to you. It isn't simple, sometimes it takes very long to realize that we'll never see this person.
