Selena Quintanilla-Perez was a Mexican-American singer. She was born on the 16th of April 1971 in Lake Jackson and she died on the 31st of March 1995 in Corpus Christi. She died when she was 24 years old. Her music's genres are tejano, latin pop, pop and cumbia. She worked for record labels like EMI and Capitol Records. Since the ninth year of her life she got her siblings together in the group Selena Y Los Dinos till death. In 1987 she won the award for Vocalist of the Year on Tejano Music Awards. She got the most important music award- Grammy for the album '¡Live! Selena'. The artist was shot by a manager from her fun club, Yolanda Saldívar when Selena wanted to get back her stolen documents. Despite being transported to the hospital, they failed to save her. In 1997 her father created a film about her, titled 'Selena' about life and success of this singer.
