The event was established in
2012, replacing the No Way Out in the June slot of WWE's
pay-per-view calendar. In 2015, the event moved to the month of May slot of
WWE's pay-per-view calendar.

Extreme Rules
The name of the event stems most
matches being contested under hardcore wrestling regulations. The event name was
established in 2009. In 2007, WWE promoted the show as one of its own regular PPV events but kept the ECW concept of
Extreme Rules matches. In 2009, WWE renamed the One Night Stand event to WWE
Extreme Rules.
Money in the Bank
It is named after the Money in the Bank ladder match, which previously only took place at WrestleMania. The Money in the Bank ladder match debuted at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. The Money in the Bank match would then be held at the next five WrestleMania events, after which the match concept was spun off on to its own pay-per-view beginning in 2010.
July
Battleground
The event was established in 2013, debuting in October on WWE's pay-per-view calendar. In 2014, the event moved to the July slot of WWE's pay-per-view calendar.
